Job Description

Branch Controller  Gallatin, TN  $94k-$127k

As a Branch Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and assure the accuracy of the Plant’s reported financial results. You will work directly with the plant management team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP, work directly with the Internal Audit department to maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) for the branch operations. You will report directly to the Plant Operations Director and will directly supervise some branch level accounting staff.  You will have direct interaction with all controllers (regional, country and branch), and home office financial departments.


Branch Accounting (80% of time)

  • Month End closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
  • Support the management team with the identification and analysis of variances in key financial measures/KPIs.
  • Maintain Capex Project reporting and documentation for project support.  Work with the management team to financially justify, track all project spending, and coordinate the opening/closing of projects with the home office.
  • Coordinate/facilitate physical inventory counts three times per year.  Maintain system setup and reporting/reconciliation/roll forward for audit purposes.
  • Act as a key representative of the accounting and finance team in specific projects, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures, US GAAP, and other financial reporting compliance, laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to the Company’s system of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and effective internal and external audits and month-end close.
  • Responsible for oversight of, and to the extent necessary participation in, all aspects of the monthly and quarterly financial close cycles, including the timely completion of journal entries, reconciliations, consolidation, allocations, and reviews.
  • Ensure accounting systems and processes are continually streamlined via process improvement to achieve greater efficiencies and accuracy in the level and timeliness of reporting.
  • Prepare Annual Budget, working with the management team to forecast expenses and production.

Relationship Building & Supervisory (20% of time)

  • Supervise local finance team including a Cost Accountant and an Accounts Payable Clerk.
  • Build and maintain good team-oriented relationships with all plant-level management across the departments.

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing accounting environment
  • 3 years of experience with internal/external audit compliance
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Computer / Software Skills: Ability to work in a Microsoft software environment.  Excellent Microsoft Excel experience including vLookups, Pivot Tables, IF statements, etc. SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Coaching & Mentoring: Strong interpersonal skills. Possesses people development and delegation skills. Ability to provide timely guidance and feedback to help staff accomplish a task or solve a problem and help others be more successful.

TRAVEL REQUIRED
