CM/Process/Data Tools Engineer II

Pasadena, CA

1st shift, 9/80 Work Schedule

Job Summary: Update and maintain the database and documentation of ground-based pressure systems at the client’s Oak Grove facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Control/manage data in and out of the database, including updates to system/component status, location, owner, numbering, etc.
  • Maintain PSS SharePoint site and content (which includes all team-generated documentation such as certificate sheets, drawings, memos, test records, data sheets, photos, etc.)
  • Maintain, design, and recommend group tools/processes to improve team efficiency, capability, and integration within the Pressure Vessels & Systems (PVS) Program and with the client.
  • Define and manage upgrades/improvement projects for group databases and websites with the IT team.
  • Design and provide reporting tools to facilitate intermittent reporting on various team performance metrics from database activity.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with typically a minimum of 3 years of related experience; Master’s degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 1 year of related experience; or Ph.D. in similar disciplines with a minimum of 0 years of experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially with advanced features of MS Excel.
  • Proficient in SharePoint 2013 as a site owner, especially working with document libraries, lists, site permissions, and workflows.
  • Basic knowledge in software development (nodejs, JavaScript Frameworks, – ex. NextJS)
  • Basic knowledge of database design and administration.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Content Management systems.
  • Able to serve as a liaison between IT and PSS group (identifying process issues, recommending solutions, and resolving bugs)
  • Must possess great communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and implement them.
  • Must be detail oriented with a systems thinking mindset.
  • Knowledge of configuration management practices.
  • Must be able to work independently and deal with ambiguity (i.e., be able to generate solutions without always being asked)
  •  

Desired Skills:

  • Expert in MS Excel (ex. VBA, Pivot Charts, vlookup)
  • Business intelligence experience or proven ability to interpret data with respect to larger business needs.
  • Ability to effectively interface with multiple levels of management, operations personnel, and technical experts.
  • Familiarity with any of the ASME Pressure Vessel and Pressure Piping Codes, Cal/OSHA Unified Pressure Vessel Code, hydrogen systems, acutely hazardous gas systems, cryogenic systems, hazardous materials, and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable Laboratory policies and procedures, NASA policies and procedures, and government regulations.
