JOB TITLE: Controls Designer (Food & Consumer Products)
WORK LOCATION: Toledo OH (or Alliance OH, Columbus OH, Troy MI)

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
Our client is seeking a talented Controls Designer with consulting design experience to join an experienced and established team based primarily out of the Toledo, Ohio office, but can also be based out of Alliance OH, Columbus OH, or Troy MI.
 
Candidates should possess PLC programming experience and field experience working with Allen Bradley based control systems. The ideal candidate would be capable of generating proposals, estimates, and project schedules. Candidates should also be able to develop control system design packages using AutoCAD, perform PLC & HMI programming, and support startups on industrial projects for clients in the glass and manufacturing industries.
 
 
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop engineering scope and cost estimates to incorporate into formal proposals. Assist with project change orders as needed.
  • Act as the design and programming lead on selected projects.
  • Understand various PLC architectures including Ethernet, ControlNet and Remote I/O
  • Develop contractor installation/construction packages including riser/conduit installation drawings, device location plans/elevations and specifications
  • Develop electrical controls schematics including low-voltage power distribution, PLC I/O drawings and 480V motor 1-line & 3-line schematics
  • Perform PLC/HMI Programming (mainly RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, PanelviewPlus RSView ME, Wonderware)
  • Assist with on-site commissioning and start-up including device/hardware checkout and troubleshooting of PLC/HMI programs

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: 
  • 8 years or more of electrical design experience
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • AB PLC and HMI programming experience is required
  • Knowledge of project design, cost estimating, and scheduling
  • Good computer and communication skills
  • Ability to work and communicate remotely in an independent and team-oriented environment
  • Ability and desire to travel for field assignments is required
Candidate must have a significant level of programming and field experience and understand that travel is an important part of their role. Yearly travel percentages can vary each year from as little as 10% or as much as 50% in a given year depending on project needs.
