Summary:
The main function of a Documentation Tech is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions in support of engineering functions. The Documentation Tech is to support engineering projects by preparing reports and calculations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide technical assistance to design engineering personnel to establish accurate designs.
• Prepare, review, and implement engineering documentation releases.
• Create and maintain IMACS records encompassing item master records, bills of material, design charts and engineering calculation factors.
• Maintain new and revised design data on production parts schedule.
• Ensure that documentation is developed and processed to meet Engineering release schedules.
• Coordinate the release approval process with Manufacturing Engineering, Custom Engineering and Manufacturing Release prior to release activation.
• Reports to Department Management.
Required background experience and skills:
• An associates degree or equivalent college level course work plus experience using manufacturing, engineering, or order processing documentation systems.
• 5-7 years of experience required.
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
• Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Knowledge of communication and dissemination techniques and methods.
• Knowledge of computer software, such as Adobe, JavaScript, Oracle, etc.
