Electrical Engineering Manager – Fontana, CA $140k-$170k
Summary The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the electrical engineering department. This position provides technical and project leadership using hands‐ on approaches while exercising tactical flexibility while focused on the strategic goals.
Resonsibilities
Hires and trains the electrical engineering and test technician staff.
Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Engages in all leadership trainings, meetings, and initiatives.
Leads and coordinates various electrical engineering functions and operations; including specification reviews, drawing reviews, testing, and research and development of new and existing product lines.
Facilitates communication among clients/customers and electrical engineers, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.
Assigns Electrical Engineering personnel to projects and tasks, as required, manages team’s performance, and proactively assists his/her direct reports to meet project goals and schedules.
Serves as an overarching manager for multiple projects, creating timelines and cost projections, organizing collaborative meetings, and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets.
Actively coordinate the definition of design inputs, the creation of the design descriptions and specifications.
Leads by example in implementing current designing tools, practices, processes, and regulatory requirements.
Reviews work and projects for technical accuracy.
Establishes, implements, and maintains administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices; applies this knowledge to continually improve product lines and production efficiency.
Job Requirements
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's Degree preferred.
At least 7 years of related engineering experience
Minimum 3 years of managerial experience and/or proven leadership skills
Knowledge of protection and control systems and logic for high voltage substations
Knowledge of medium voltage switchgear protection and overall switchgear functionality.
Knowledge of low voltage systems for substation control buildings both for AC and DC power.
Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NEC and other industry applicable standards and codes
Knowledge of power system analysis and associated calculations
Familiarity with power system components and their application/specification
Must have excellent organization, supervisory, managerial and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers and technical staff.
Familiarity with ISO policies and safety regulations
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as interpersonal skills
Must have proven multitasking skills and can work in fast-paced, high demand environment.
Must have excellent analytical and computational skills.
