Operations Manager

This challenging position asks the team member to work independently to the company’s goals of fostering the widespread adoption of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Specifically, building the infrastructure needed to supply and deliver hydrogen to end-users. This role will build upon the existing work underway to ensure that the Hydrogen Hub is built on time.  Upon completion, this person will continue to operate the project to supply the infrastructure with hydrogen fuel.  The first hub will be Livermore, CA (East Bay). 

 

Primary Role and Responsibilities:

  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
  • Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
  • Coordinate with local municipalities and fire authorities, as needed
  • Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities
  • Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed
  • Hub Related Activities:
    • Manage and coordinate permitting activities
    • Manager flow of engineering information
    • Develop a schedule with consequences of delays
    • Plan for recovery in the event of slippage of activities
    • Research and analyze various hydrogen delivery companies
    • Develop and interface plan with hydrogen delivery logistics company
    • Create a graphical representation of the project progress for the executive team
    • Develop a risk register
    • Develop an ongoing operations plan, including ERP, maintenance, and regular operations
    • Develop a plan for training of operations team
    • Develop a commissioning plan
    • Develop a maintenance plan
    • Develop a site safety plan

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, associate degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience 
  • Master's in Business Administration, Industrial Management, Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, or Chemistry is preferred
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations as well as state and federal labor standards
  • Strong leader with ability to interact and collaborate with all levels in organization, including members of cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Demonstrated project management experience; a self-starter with ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Thorough knowledge of operations and best practices
  • Effective problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled at adjusting priorities and managing time wisely in a fast-paced environment; multiple projects management concurrently.
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a professional manner.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills
