Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides assistance in a confidential manner to the Labor Relations/Human Resources Department regarding employee relations, training, employment and labor recruitment in a union environment. This includes providing administrative support to Executive staff and departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist Assistant Director of Labor Relations/Human Resources in a confidential manner with labor
relations, grievances, attendance, discipline, terminations, training and staff development, as needed.
2. Create reports and other statistical data to assist with union contract compliance, labor negotiations,
grievances, arbitrations, and other labor relations issues.
3. Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a recruitment strategy to meet the human capital needs of strategic goals of the company by working with supervisors to determine position requirements.
4. Interview, screen, and recruit union job applicants and Management candidates.
5. Provide customer service to all levels of the organization.
6. Performs daily tasks including email and letter composition, typing documents, answering, and screening
incoming calls, scanning documents, photocopying, faxing, periodical distribution, and other special
projects when needed.
7. Arrange working lunches and conference room meetings.
8. Plan and organize off-site workshops, holiday events, and dinners.
9. Arrange FedEx packages that need to be distributed and received by executives.
10. Key monitor for all company key boxes.
11. Assists with arrangements for semi-annual board meetings.
12. Keeps gift inventory current and handles gift preparation for customer handouts.
13. Assists with preparations of presentations and memos for executives.
14. Logs inventory and other necessary files.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Record Board of Director minutes as a reference for future decision-making.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. Must have knowledge of labor relations, human resources, and employee relations concepts in a union
environment; and be able to maintain confidential labor/employee relations discussions, decisions, and
information at all times.
2. Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Labor Relations and Human Resources, or related field, plus a
minimum of 2-3 years' experience, preferred.
3. SPHR, PHR and/or CPP certification, preferred.
4. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint & Microsoft Outlook.
5. Superior Customer Services skills are required.
6. Strong analytical, mathematical, spelling, grammar, verbal, and written skills necessary.
7. Must be able to multitask, with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work accordingly.
8. Ability to challenge the status quo and recommend new methods and solutions to problems and issues
9. Project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from vision
through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors, preferred.
10. Cross-train and perform other work-related duties as assigned.
