General Position Summary:
This role will focus primarily on the design of enclosures for electronic devices housing individual or multiple semiconductor devices. The design methods may include modifications to existing hermetic metal or potted cases as well as Chip on Board configurations or newly developed methods to expand product capabilities.
This position does not have direct supervisory authority; however, may assume team leader responsibilities.
Essential functions and Responsibilities:
New Package Material/Technology evaluation
Derivative designs based off existing packages
Ground Up, New Package Development with customer facing requirements gathering
Product Test fixture and adaptor updates for new packages
Work with outside consultants, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to identify and develop package components and assemblies
Working with the Design/Process teams ensures the smooth transition of new designs into production, including supporting pilot runs and full manufacturing ramp up
Generate package drawings that go into product datasheets and evaluation datasheets
Performs Design for X (X=automation, test, manufacturing) reviews
Reliability prediction simulation and analysis (COMSOL or equivalent multi-physics)
Competitive analysis of other power packages in the market
Solid modeling and drafting (We have Creo PTC and Autodesk Inventor)
Working knowledge of GD&T
Manufacturing tooling development
Machining with the ability to make minor modifications to prototypes
Working knowledge of thermodynamics and thermal management in electronics/semiconductor applications.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar with 5+ years' experience
Excellent technical problem solving & multi-tasking skills
Data driven with proven ability to apply scientific and engineering concepts
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a dynamic environment
Effective communication, interaction, and team-working skills
Good task management skills and experience working with project management
US citizenship allows work on ITAR/EAR projects. (highly preferred)
Office environment with close work on a computer.
