Leads the effective implementation of New Business, Value Pricing and Productivity within the manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for production, productivity, and safety in manufacturing. Direct reports may include but is not limited to: Manufacturing Engineering, Machining Supervisors, and CNC Programming Lead. Manages and has primary responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the areas assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Organize production activities to support cost reduction targets, on-time, quality shipments that meet customer expectations.
Participate in evaluation of new customer/business opportunities; support concurrent engineering activities to drive New Business growth.
Organize and assign work to ensure effective use of resources.
Maintain required quality levels and adhere to AS9100 manufacturing standards. Support root cause analysis of quality issues. Responsible for implementing corrective actions.
Work with planners to ensure work orders are released on a timely manner to balance lead time and inventory goals.
Identify and correct conditions detrimental to safety or health or that might adversely affect employees, productivity levels, equipment or facility.
Interview, hire, train and evaluate manufacturing employees. Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Handle employee complaints and maintain good employee relations. Maintain complete working knowledge of job descriptions for areas supervised; recommend necessary changes.
Keep current on operating techniques and maintain equipment, tools and supplies; keep current on new developments; recommend acquisition or replacement. Participate in the selection and justification of capital equipment.
Insure good housekeeping/5S practices with the department.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university; or equivalent experience in a technical field; and
Fifteen (15) years of demonstrated related experience, ten (10) in a management role; and
Must have in-depth professional knowledge of operations principles and management techniques; and
Preferred experience in high mix/low volume aerospace environment; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Problem solving, critical thinking and creativity skills are essential. 2.Must be highly motivated and be a committed team player. 3.Ability to lead/direct the activities of less senior manufacturing engineers. 4.Excellent PC skills including Excel and other MS Office applications and working knowledge of ERP systems. 5.Must have good oral, written communications and have a high level of moral and ethical codes.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
General office environment with office equipment usage. Requires usage of computer and computer software. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Answers telephone calls and occasionally bends over, reaches and pushes and pulls file drawers. Moves within the office and factory to collect, deliver, and copy documents. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
