POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the QA Director, the Quality Assurance Manager will oversee and direct the QA program, food safety program, SQF Compliance, and Laboratory personnel.  The QA Manager will ensure product and process compliance to legal, company and consumer, quality and food safety standards for all products manufactured in the plant.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for promoting food safety awareness and keeping food safety as a number one priority daily.

DUTIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNTIONS

Oversee/Manage the QA program to include chemical, physical, bacteriological and shelf life analysis of finished product in the plant and warehouse. 

Maintain a working relationship with Regulatory Inspectors and Third Party Auditors to ensure compliance to standards. Complete and submit all paperwork.

Lead SQF Audit Compliance for the plant.  Must be a certified SQF Practitioner

Lead plant HACCP team and maintain FSMA program and documentation

Oversee response to Consumer and Customer complaints.  Work with team to implement corrective actions in response to complaints

Supports Supplier Quality program and the TraceGains software

Maintain accurate and current product formulations and manufacturing protocols for all products manufactured at the facility.

Monitor, through auditing, inspection, sampling and testing – incoming ingredients, processing, packaging and sanitation, to ensure the safety and quality of all finished goods.

Support the master sanitation schedule and monitor cleaning chemical efficiency by working close with the Sanitation Manager. 

Oversee pest control to ensure compliance to SQF

Manage, train and direct the QA laboratory personnel and technical personnel to assure accurate and efficient laboratory practices and record keeping. 

Accept or reject incoming goods and finished products based on established standards. Communicate findings and make recommendations to management.

Oversee and audit plant sanitation programs. Audit documentation and maintain required records.

Assist in training all plant personnel regarding HACCP, SQF, GMP’S, sanitation and product handling.

Manage the microbiological and chemical laboratory.

Support raw receiving and acceptance procedures for milk, UF and cream.

Support quality programs in logistics and the warehouse / cooler. 

Work closely with plant and Operations Managers and plant personnel to prevent & resolve quality problems.

Job Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Food Technology or Dairy Science is preferred

Experience

Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in Dairy Manufacturing

Quality Assurance supervisory experience
