Job Description



  • Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements for purchased materials through warranted finished goods.

  • Design and implement methods for testing/inspecting the quality level of products and production equipment.

  • Review engineering documentation to ensure it contains the necessary criteria and provisions to permit effective inspection and testing of materials and products.

  • Analyze reports and returned products, and recommend corrective action for procedural, product or process deficiencies.

  • Develop standard work processes focusing on Supply Chain Management including, Supplier Assessments, Appraisals, New and On-going approvals, Strategic Global Transfer of Work Projects.

  • Maintain and improve supplier KPI’s

  • Monitor Supplier Delivery Performance
  • Participate on design development teams with regard to new quality requirements and/or past issues.

  • Review engineering change orders to determine if quality plans and/or inspection/testing requirements need to be revised or added.

  • Assure purchased material meets quality requirements through the supplier selection process, first article inspections, process capability, measurement of supplier performance and assuring closure on corrective action requests.

  • Use the Corrective and Preventive Action system to ensure both current and potential quality problems are solved.

  • Review in-process and customer rejections to facilitate and generate improvements related to supplier performance. Use this information to determine if systemic issues requiring corrective action exist.

  • Ship to Stock Management

  • MRB Chair

  • Supplier Surveys, Audits and Qualification Process .

  • Update and Maintain Supplier Web Portal



  • Reports to the Procurement/Supply Chain Leader.

  • Interacts with Operations Managers, Manufacturing Engineers and Associates.

  • Interacts with Purchasing (Buyers).

  • Interacts with Design Engineering.

  • Interacts with Customer Service Representatives and Account Managers.



  • Interacts with Suppliers regarding onsite audits, first article inspections and corrective action.

  • Works with external suppliers on Strategic Transfer of Work Projects.



  • Supplier PPM

  • External PPM (customer returns related to supplier performance)

  • Internal PPM ( in-process rejections related to supplier performance)

  • Supplier KPI’s

Job Requirements


  • Education - Bachelor degree required.  Engineering or other technical major preferred.  Advanced technical or business degree beneficial.

  • Experience - Minimum of two years quality system experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. 

  • Functional Training - Demonstration of continuing education in quality assurance to ensure knowledge & understanding of leading edge practices & technology.  ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and/or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.



  • Effective planning, organization, and leadership skills

  • Effective internal and external QMS auditing skills.

  • Outstanding problem-solving skills

  • Effective experience with quality tools (e.g. capability studies, process control techniques, statistical analysis of data, problem solving methodology, etc.).

  • Experience with ISO 9001 compliant quality systems.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills

  • Experience with software tools including Microsoft Office and QMS software packages.

  • Ability & experience interfacing at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to articulate clear vision and convey a sense of urgency.

  • Ability & willingness to lead and work in a matrix organization with direct & indirect reporting relationships.
