Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Sr. Advanced Quality Engineer is responsible to support Sales and Marketing in Company’s Proposal and Contract Review Process. This position reviews proposals, customer’s statement of work, compliance matrices and customer documents in support of new proposals and contracts. In addition, the role may support internal Quality activities in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Product Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), control plan preparation, and developing QA matrices.  Also, negotiate and / or modify terms and conditions on contracts to reduce company liability or cost.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

With minimum supervision, review proposals and support documents for company adherence and acceptance. Update Compliance Matrices and review Quality Clauses.  Establish cost estimates for quality engineering and inspection support for new proposals or contracts.  Additionally, prepare quality plans as required and review planning for approval or rejection.  Recommend process improvements.  Review and/or approve changes to specifications and procedures.

 

Analyze compiled data from tests and inspection reports to identify problems.  Reviews data and submits results to Quality Control for review and action with regards to any rejected materials (or processes) on assigned jobs.

 

Perform lean and process improvement projects in a team environment.

 

Perform internal audit as well as assists in completing “external” audits.

 

Participate in workgroups (e.g., FMEA, APQP, Proposals, and etc.) to ensure that quality input is provided.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience reviewing Military or Aerospace Customer Proposals and Contracts. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management System requirements.  A strong attention to detail while reviewing company contracts and purchase orders Knowledge of inspection methods in the design and fabrication of product is required.  Has a clear understanding of the knowledge and skill necessary to satisfactorily perform all assigned responsibilities including review of all documents and procedures. Able to work with various internal groups and teams and can prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks, simultaneous projects, and deadlines.  Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, to support effective correspondence with internal as well as external customers/suppliers.  Requires minimum supervision and must be able to make independent decisions.  Proficient in the use of MS Office software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Ability to read and interpret Blueprint drawings and specifications.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline with minimum of eight (8) years of experience and/or training in a Quality Assurance Department in an Aerospace manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
