Position Overview: The Shop Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility, with a focus on producing high-quality aviation lighting products. The ideal candidate will have experience in reading schematics, fabricating components, and managing shop activities efficiently. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader to grow the department and eventually lead a team of skilled technicians and fabricators.
Responsibilities:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to fabricate components and assemblies.
Coordinate with engineering and production teams to prioritize work orders and ensure timely completion of projects.
Supervise shop activities, including machining, welding, assembly, and quality control processes.
Monitor inventory levels and order materials as needed to support production schedules.
Implement best practices for safety, efficiency, and quality control in the manufacturing environment.
Train and mentor shop personnel to develop technical skills and expertise in aviation lighting manufacturing.
Collaborate with management to develop strategies for departmental growth and expansion.
Maintain equipment and facilities in accordance with safety regulations and maintenance schedules.
Perform other duties as assigned to support company objectives and initiatives.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, preferably in the aerospace or aviation industry.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
Proficiency in fabrication techniques such as machining, welding, and assembly.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of technicians and fabricators.
Solid organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software is a plus.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred.
