Job Description

Position Overview:
The Shop Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility, with a focus on producing high-quality aviation lighting products. The ideal candidate will have experience in reading schematics, fabricating components, and managing shop activities efficiently. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader to grow the department and eventually lead a team of skilled technicians and fabricators.


Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to fabricate components and assemblies.
  • Coordinate with engineering and production teams to prioritize work orders and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Supervise shop activities, including machining, welding, assembly, and quality control processes.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order materials as needed to support production schedules.
  • Implement best practices for safety, efficiency, and quality control in the manufacturing environment.
  • Train and mentor shop personnel to develop technical skills and expertise in aviation lighting manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with management to develop strategies for departmental growth and expansion.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities in accordance with safety regulations and maintenance schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support company objectives and initiatives.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, preferably in the aerospace or aviation industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in fabrication techniques such as machining, welding, and assembly.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of technicians and fabricators.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software is a plus.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and driving operational excellence in the shop environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred.
