Scott Kuethen was the CEO of Amtec and the driving force behind the company's growth over more than two decades. He joined Amtec as a recruiter in 1983, fell in love with the work, and never left. He became CEO in 1999 and built Amtec into a nationwide professional recruiting organization serving companies ranging from small startups to the Fortune 100. Scott spent nearly four decades in the staffing industry, consulting with well over a thousand CEOs, HR leaders, and hiring managers. That experience shaped a deep understanding of what makes hiring work for both people and organizations. His writing for the Amtec blog reflects that perspective, covering talent acquisition, performance management, retention, leadership, and organizational success. Scott earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Redlands and his Executive MBA from the Drucker School of Business at Claremont Graduate University. A registered native Hawaiian, he was passionate about speaking, consulting, teaching, and writing. Outside of work, he loved photography, SCUBA diving, mountain biking, drone photography, and woodworking. Scott passed away in July 2024. His legacy continues through the company and people he built, including his son Barrett Kuethen, who now serves as President and CEO.
